THANK YOU

I’ve been very lax and haven’t given you any news for months but work has been so hectic with not enough hours in the day. I wanted to thank everyone who has emailed since Wednesday’s Dragon’s Den show. I’ve had numerous lovely comments and it really is so very kind of you all.I was very pleased with how the programme went and luckily the day of filming on the field was perfect as you could see.Things are slowing down now as all the shows are over and we can concentrate on our Pest Control work. We have several weddings before the end of the year and our experience days are getting very booked up so no rest yet!! Having worked 7 days a week for months I’m hoping to take a short break soon to recharge the batteries. Thank you all again for your continued support. I really do appreciate it.

Cottered Village Show

We are again at this delightful village show on Sunday 26th June. I think this must be our 5th year there. If you are in the area do come along as there is something for everyone, lots of stalls, car boot sale, bouncy castles and numerous stalls outside houses selling bric a brac and wonderful home made jam! The bar is open in the village hall and they also sell teas and rolls etc. There is also a bar-b-que. There’s no excuse for going hungry. We are busier than ever and work is keeping Alex, Mike, Matt and myself fully occupied to say the least. We are being filmed next wednesday by the BBC carrying out pest control to complete the footage for the follow up to Dragons Den. Duncan will be there too this time.

SO SORRY

I’ve been very lax I’m afraid in keeping you all up to date with my news! Work is flooding in with new Pest Control contracts coming in every week. It’s keeping Alex and I very busy and we have now taken on another falconer 3 days a week and a university graduate who worked with us last summer is starting as my
apprentice in June. We are being filmed today and saturday by the BBC for a follow up programme on successful Dragons Den contestants at the Smallholders and Garden Festival at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells. I will let you know when the programme airs. We are now getting into the display season and also have numerous wedding rings to deliver so another busy summer coming up.

Busy Busy Busy!

This is usually our quietest time of year but we have already started some Pest Control contracts and more coming in all the time. We have had lots of Hawk Walks and Falconry experiences lately due to it being half term week but more this week too. Work proceeding well on the Aviaries and the roof went on over the weekend. It looks amazing and the birds and I can’t wait for it to be finished!! The weather has been appalling so that has slowed things up but surely Spring must be just around the corner??

Pest Control

We are getting lots of new pest control contracts coming through so we are very busy which is great. Recently I covered bird control at Warton airfield for a week so apologies for no blog for a while. Also getting lots of requests for Falconry experiences and the bookings for displays during the summer are coming in too so another good year ahead! The new aviaries are taking shape nicely but we don’t get much spare time to work on them so a slow process. Also the plans for our house are near completion and we are very excited about that as it looks fantastic!

BUSY WEEKEND

We had 37 tonnes of stone delivered to the top of our drive on Friday and spent the weekend getting it down on the field using a mini digger and a dumper. It poured with rain all weekend so we got thoroughly soaked both days. It is for the base of the new aviaries and now it is down it looks great and I can see how big the new building will be. Can’t wait for it to be completed. Another busy week with meetings, pest control work and a talk and demonstration at a retirement home with Hope, the Hawk and Olivier the barn owl. These are always popular as the residents enjoy handling them.

Happy New Year

A very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to everyone. If 2011 is as exciting for me as 2010 then I am really looking forward to it! We spent Christmas in Suffolk with my Nan and Auntie and had a lovely time and then we went up to Scotland to celebrate the New Year with Alex’s family. Time to get back to work and now that the snow has gone hopefully we can start work on the new avarierys again.

Home to the cold

We are back from lovely warm and sunny Marrakesh having had a super time. We travelled around by local bus and saw some amazing places and spent one night in a tent in the desert. Back to work now with a pest control contract to finish tomorrow. We will be on a factory roof clearing old nests so hope the weather fine. Then it’s off to Newquay Airport for 4 days and back home next sunday. Poor old Herbie will wonder where we are but Mike has been looking after him for us so he’s quite happy.

Another holiday

Like everyone else i’ve struggled through the snow every day this week and spent hours freezing whilst carrying out pest control so i’m taking a week’s holiday in Morroco. Hopefully the weather will be a bit warmer than here! It’s been a very busy year and i’ve worked 7 days a week for months so think I deserve it. Lots in the diary when I get back so will be hectic right up until Christmas and beyond – not that I’m complaining!

A SHORT HOLIDAY

Herbie and I went on a short holiday to Scotland last week. He really enjoyed lots of long walks as did I but unfortunately we didn’t see the Loch Ness Monster no matter how hard we looked! What a shame as I’m sure he’s there somewhere! Down in Newquay covering bird control at the Airport again this weekend then back to Wales tomorrow. The new Aviaries are slowly taking shape but it’s a slow process as doing it in spare time and don’t get much of that and of course the weather hasn’t been that brilliant either. Never mind it will all get done in time.
